Taste Hank’s Peruvian Lawnmower at Rated ART
Yep, back for seconds and thirds! Hold on to your (taste)buds, because things just got frosty! As we gear up for Rated ART, we’re bringing you a few introductions, hints, and peeks about what will await you at the gala this Saturday.
Let us share with you the mouth-watering idea of the Peruvian Lawnmower which was created, and will be served, by the barmasters of Hank’s Oyster Bar – Capitol Hill.
This icy sweet beverage was inspired by the artwork of AAC Resident Artist Dawn Whitmore. Read on to learn about what to expect from Rated ART!

Years in the Industry: 15
Credentials: Graduated from the Corcoran School of Art in 2005, several years in the role of photo editor for various publications/organizations, educator at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, recent resident at the Vermont Studio Center, inclusion in the upcoming show ARTillery at the Mesa Museum of Contemporary Art in Mesa, Arizona

What made you decide to enter the art world?
Dawn: When I was in 9th grade a friend took me to a party at MICA and I was blown away by all of the creative energy. I remember distinctly thinking these are the people I always want to be around.
What gets your creative juices flowing for your next piece?
Dawn: Whatever is going on around me that I find interesting, especially elements of culture that I am unfamiliar with.
What’s your art superpower?
Dawn: My interest in people and my camera.
What are your art turn-ons?
Dawn: Out of control creativity combined with a well developed concept.
What are you most looking forward to at Rated ART?
Dawn: The interpretations of visual art into drink.
What’s the most extraordinary piece of art you’ve ever experienced?
Dawn: First thing that comes to mind is Janet Cardiff’s the Forty Part Motet I experienced last May at the Scottsdale Museum of Art.
