Lindsay Mueller
Lindsay Mueller creates sculptural paintings to explore her relationship to outdoor spaces, drawn to sites of decay, interconnection, and ambiguity.
Muller’s work is influenced by American tendencies to romanticize nature, and she utilizes the abundance of visual information found outdoors to consider human connection to and meaning found in landscape. Mueller grew up in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and she currently lives and works in Arlington, Virginia. She holds Bachelor’s degrees in Painting and Psychology from Boston University, and an MFA in Visual Arts from American University. She has exhibited her work on the east coast at venues including the American University Museum (DC), MoCA Arlington (VA), the University of Mary Washington (VA), Adah Rose Gallery (MD), the Peale Museum (MD), MarketView Arts at York College (PA), and Chautauqua Institution (NY). In 2023 Mueller was awarded the Bethesda Painting Young Artist award, and she was a 2025 Sondheim Art Prize semifinalist. Most recently she was published in Create Magazine’s “Of Land and Longing: The Language of Contemporary Landscape” Catalogue, and she was a Four Pillars Artist in Residence at Mount Gretna School of Art (PA).
