Joey Enríquez

Working across digital, sculptural and printmaking practices, Joey Enríquez’s location specific work repurposes found materials in order to unearth, acknowledge and reframe forgotten histories.

Joey Enríquez is an artist, designer, geographer, and educator in the Washington, D.C. area. Enríquez earned their B.A. in Design from California Lutheran University (2018) and their M.F.A. in Fine Arts at George Washington University (2020); as an emerging professional, they’ve been awarded fellowships and residencies at Hamiltonian Artists in D.C. (2020–22), The Studios at MASS MoCA (2021), and MoCA Arlington (2022–23) and have exhibited at The Kreeger Museum (Washington, D.C.), Hamiltonian Artists (Washington, D.C.), and Edge on the Square (San Francisco, CA). Enríquez’s graphic design work has been included in exhibitions such as dancer Maida Withers’ retrospective LEGACY: 50 Years of Dance on the Edge (2022) and for the artist collective Related Tactics for projects in collaboration with Monument Lab, Tacoma Museum of Glass, and more. They are currently an adjunct professor at the George Washington University, George Mason University, and American University.
