Make It Make Sense: Dream Sip ‘n Paint with Artist David Ignacio

Friday / July 17 / 6pm-8pm / Innovation Studio + Store

In this workshop, participants will have the chance to draw/paint their dreams or process the feelings they have through abstract painting! Like true sip-n-paint fashion, this will be an evening of relaxed and casual painting as we share random dreams (sharing not required). Participants will sip and paint with minimal instructions. These automatic paintings are based on the captions (dream excerpts) but could also be quotations or short lines. All materials provided and free to attend!

This event is hosted by MoCA Arlington Innovation Studio + Store at 525 14th Street South, Arlington, VA 22202. Street parking is available for a fee, and garage parking is free for up to three hours after 4:00pm. We recommend entering the garage from 13th Street South!

ABOUT THE ARTIST

David Ignacio (b. 1998) was born and raised in the Philippines and moved to the United States in 2013. He received his BFA at Virginia Commonwealth University’s Sculpture and Extended Media Department in 2020 with a Double Minor in Art History and Painting & Printmaking. His work has been included in group exhibitions at The Anderson Gallery (Richmond, VA), FilAM Arts for the Festival of Philippine Arts and Culture (Los Angeles, CA), The Cultural Center of the Philippines (Manila, Philippines), and at Sining Makiling Galleryin the University of Philippines Los Baños (Laguna, Philippines).

Using found materials as unconventional surfaces and assemblages as a vehicle for image-making and storytelling, David Ignacio explores ways of understanding the immigrant experience, perceptions of home, and displacement in a time of environmental existentialism.

You can find him online at davidignaciocom.wordpress.com or @davidignco on Instagram.
