Arlington Comics for Teens – Comic Book Contest!

Deadline Extended: March 1, 2024

Do you love comics? Are you an Arlington County student in middle or high school? If yes: this is your chance to show off your talent for storytelling and drawing! The Arlington County’s Police Department, Public Library, Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Teen Network Board invite you to take part in the inaugural Arlington Comics for Teens (ACT) contest. Make your voice heard on issues of public safety for teens and earn prizes and opportunities to disseminate your work.

Prizes:

High school Category

  • 1st Place – $100
  • Runner-up – $50

Middle School Category

  • 1st Place – $100
  • Runner-up – $50

Honorable Mentions – $100

(The prize amount will be distributed equally among honorable mentions)

Rules:

Your work:

  • Should be original in content & form (no copyrighted material or AI-generated content).
  • Should focus on issues of public safety for teens. Issues for high schoolers may include but are not limited to: driving under the influence, substance abuse, and healthy relationships. Issues for middle schoolers may include but are not limited to: bullying, smoking, and social media use.
    Be the result of individual or teamwork (but only one submission per person/team).
  • Have a minimum of 1 page. No maximum.
  • Be made with the understanding that organizers will exhibit and reproduce your submission for purposes of highlighting the contest and its winners (including on social media).
  • Should be submitted (as a PDF file) by March 1, 2024, through the link below.

An Adventure of Being explores blurred boundaries, physical breakdown, and states of in-between-ness. The painting, sculpture, and installations included in the exhibition incorporate materials and forms that bring to mind living beings.
