Oil Painting: Large Scale Portrait
In this 5-week course students will develop one large (at least 18 x 24) portrait painting in oil. Students will have the opportunity to slowly develop a single oil painting, methodically working through each stage of the process. Beginning with the underpainting, students will strengthen their understanding of value, structure and comparative measurement. We will emphasize accuracy in our initial drawing, and focus on color relationships/mixing as the paintings are developed. We will also cover basic head and facial anatomy. All skill levels are welcome!
