Drawing the Figure in Graphite
In the course, students will learn how to draw the figure (clothed and nude) from photographic reference. Using graphite, students will learn to simplify a complex figure using a straightforward approach to rendering and measuring. The course will highlight basic bodily anatomy/proportion as well as various rendering techniques. Moving from the clothed figure to the nude, students will learn to describe complex figures gesturally and academically. Students will strengthen their ability to describe figures with a simple linear approach and a tonal/atmospheric approach to rendering. All skill levels are welcome!
