Oil Paints: Introduction and Exploration

This 8-session painting class with instructor Emily Sullivan will introduce students to oil paint and painting from observation. No prior art experience needed! We will learn about the properties of color (value, temperature, and intensity) and color mixing to match what we see. In following sessions, we will discuss how to create a compelling composition and work from observation of a still-life. Students will learn different painting techniques, including how to build up a painting in layers, and how to apply paint directly to the canvas. You will finish this class with several completed pieces and the skills to continue painting!
