Intro to Printmaking
In this class, students will learn the basics of monotype printmaking using a gelatin plate. Students will learn about basic care for their gelatin plate, practice a variety of additive and subtractive techniques, and learn how to create stencils and image transfers. While learning these technical skills, students will be guided by intuitive and process-based instruction with a focus on experimentation rather than precisely calculated outcomes. This will be a fun and experimental class in which students will find they can generate endless possibilities and surprising—often beautiful—results.
