Workshop: Intro to Oils

Students will gain an introduction to oil paints in this three-session workshop with local artist, Jonathan Ege. Students will learn about paint mediums, setting up a palette, basic color mixing, and composition with a focus on oils. Students will first complete a series of color-mixing exercises to learn about value, temperature, and intensity. After this, students will have the opportunity to work from a still life to learn how to complete an oil painting from start to finish. Students will leave with the skills and resources to continue oil painting! No prior painting or oil paint experience necessary.
