Drawing & Painting: Contemporary Landscapes: Ages 11-14

Depictions of landscapes by artists often become windows that transport viewers into other worlds. Students will focus their energies on perspective, play with the effects of light over modeled surfaces, and employ both mark and color to achieve their desired effects. With drawing and painting techniques, students will address the traditional landscape in fresh and original ways. While we explore our own relationship with land and our surroundings, we will ask ourselves questions like “Is the promise of escape still a possibility?”
